India to El Salvador visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa for El Salvador. There is no visa-free or tourist-card-only entry for Indian nationals. Since October 2025 the visa can be obtained through El Salvador's online eVisa portal, with a consular (embassy) application as the alternative. Apply well before travel; entry is not guaranteed without an approved visa. El Salvador classifies India among the nationalities that require prior visa authorization rather than visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry. Although many travel-aggregator pages claim Indians get a 90-day visa-free stay with a USD 10 tourist card, the authoritative visa-policy classification (mirroring El Salvador's official decree), IATA Timatic-based data (Sherpa), and current 2025-2026 guidance all confirm that Indian ordinary passport holders must obtain a visa in advance. El Salvador launched an online eVisa platform in October 2025, which is now the most practical route; nationals whose applications require approval in El Salvador (India is in this group) cannot rely on the "substitute visa" shortcut available to some other nationalities holding valid US/Canada/Schengen visas. A traditional consular visa at a Salvadoran embassy/consulate remains available where the eVisa is not yet accessible. Approved travelers typically receive electronic confirmation and a special entry permit stamped at the port of entry. Because the system is new and sources differ, travelers should confirm directly with El Salvador's Direccion General de Migracion y Extranjeria (migracion.gob.sv) or the nearest Salvadoran mission before booking. El Salvador is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
