India to Suriname visa requirements

Indian passport holders need an e-Visa to visit Suriname. Since 1 May 2023, India is one of 21 nationalities for which Suriname reimposed the visa requirement, so Indians cannot use the cheaper Tourist Card / Entry Fee channel and there is no visa-on-arrival. Apply online before travel via the official VFS Global e-Visa portal. An Indian (IN) ordinary passport holder traveling to Suriname (SR) for tourism must obtain a Suriname e-Visa in advance. On 1 May 2023 Suriname unilaterally reimposed the visa requirement for nationals of 21 countries, and India is explicitly on that list. As a result, Indians are excluded from both the 90-day visa-free regime and the simplified Tourist Card / Entry Fee voucher that most other nationalities use; those channels are reserved for visa-exempt countries. The e-Visa is applied for entirely online through VFS Global, the Government of Suriname's official and authorised e-Visa partner (suriname.vfsevisa.com). Applicants upload a passport bio-page, a passport photo and supporting documents (return ticket, proof of accommodation), pay the fee online, and receive an electronic visa by email to print and present on arrival. A typical single-entry tourist e-Visa is around USD 45 and allows a stay of up to 90 days, with the visa generally valid for entry within 90 days of issue; a multiple-entry option (around USD 90) is also available. Suriname does not offer genuine visa-on-arrival to Indian tourists (only narrow official/diplomatic exceptions), so the e-Visa must be granted before boarding. Passports should have at least six months' validity. Because online aggregators sometimes still wrongly suggest Indians can pay the Entry Fee voucher, travelers should rely on the official VFS Global portal and the Indian Embassy in Paramaribo, and confirm the e-Visa status is approved before departure.
