India to Somalia visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa (eTAS) for Somalia. Since 1 September 2025, all foreign travelers must apply online via the official portal (etas.gov.so / evisa.gov.so) before departure. India is not on Somalia's short visa-free or visa-on-arrival lists, so the pre-arrival eVisa is mandatory. As of 2026, Indian citizens travelling to Somalia for tourism must obtain an electronic visa under Somalia's eTAS (Electronic Travel Authorization System), which became mandatory for all foreign visitors on 1 September 2025. Applications are filed online at the official government portal (etas.gov.so / evisa.gov.so) before travel; there is no general visa-on-arrival for Indian nationals. Somalia's visa-free arrangement covers only Rwanda and Malaysia, and visa-on-arrival is limited to citizens of about 11 African states (e.g. Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya region partners, Tanzania, Uganda) - India is on neither list. The standard tourist eTAS is single-entry, costs about USD 65, is valid 90 days from issue for entry, and permits a stay of up to 30 days. Processing typically takes 3-7 working days. A passport valid at least six months with blank pages is required, and most travellers also need a sponsor/invitation from a licensed Somali tour operator or registered business. Note that Somaliland (Hargeisa) operates a separate visa regime from the Federal Government of Somalia (Mogadishu). Somalia is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 short-stay rule and ETIAS do not apply. Given active conflict and terrorism risk, most foreign governments advise against travel to Somalia.
