India to Rwanda visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders can enter Rwanda for tourism without paying for a visa or applying in advance. Because India is a Commonwealth member, Rwanda grants a free 30-day visa on arrival (functionally visa-free) at Kigali International Airport and all land borders. No prior application or fee is required for stays up to 30 days. Rwanda operates one of Africa's most open visa regimes. Since 1 January 2018, citizens of all countries can obtain a visa on arrival without prior application. On top of that, Rwanda waives the visa fee entirely for citizens of African Union, Commonwealth of Nations, and La Francophonie member states, granting them a free visa on arrival valid for 30 days. India is a Commonwealth member, so Indian ordinary passport holders are issued a no-cost 30-day entry stamp on arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL) and at land borders, with no advance paperwork. This makes the practical experience visa-free for short tourist visits: no fee, no online application, just present a valid passport and supporting travel documents at the border. Travelers who prefer certainty can still apply for an e-visa in advance through Rwanda's Irembo government portal, but for Commonwealth nationals the standard single-entry tourist visa (V-1, USD 50) fee is waived on arrival. A passport valid at least six months with a blank page is required, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from or transiting a yellow-fever risk country. The 30-day stay can normally be extended in-country through the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration. Rwanda is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
