India to Russian Federation visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Russia, but can use the fully online unified e-visa for tourism: single entry, valid 120 days, stay up to 30 days, about USD 52, issued within 4 calendar days. India is on Russia's approved list for the unified electronic visa (UEV), so an Indian ordinary passport holder traveling for short-term tourism does NOT need to visit a consulate for a basic short trip. The e-visa is applied for entirely online at the Russian MFA portal (evisa.kdmid.ru). Since August 23, 2025, the e-visa is valid for 120 days from issue (up from 60) and permits a stay of up to 30 days (up from 16). It is single-entry, costs roughly USD 52 in consular fees, and is normally processed within 4 calendar days. No invitation letter, hotel booking, or proof of itinerary is required, but travel medical insurance valid in Russia for the full stay is mandatory. For stays longer than 30 days, multiple entries, or other purposes, a regular tourist visa via a Russian consulate or visa center in India is required. Note: India and Russia have discussed a mutual gratis (free) e-tourist visa and a future visa-free regime, but as of the verification date neither a blanket visa waiver nor a confirmed fee waiver for ordinary travelers has been officially implemented, so the e-visa with its standard fee remains the correct channel. Travelers should verify the current country list and fee on the official portal before applying.
