India to Papua New Guinea visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Papua New Guinea and must apply online before travel. The relevant product is the Easy Visitor Permit (EVP), lodged through the official ICA e-Visa portal (evisa.ica.gov.pg) for a USD 50 fee. It grants a single entry, a 30-day stay, and is valid for 6 months from issue. There is no genuine visa-on-arrival channel for Indian citizens, so the visa must be approved before boarding. Papua New Guinea is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Indian nationals are not visa-exempt and are not on PNG's active visa-on-arrival list (currently limited to Pacific Island nations/territories and a few others). Instead, India is classified under the Easy Visitor Permit (EVP) 30-day category, which for Indian travellers must be lodged online through the official Immigration & Citizenship Authority (ICA) e-Visa portal at evisa.ica.gov.pg before departure. The 2025 ICA Immigration & Entry Permit booklet confirms a USD 50 online lodgement (migration) fee for the EVP 30-day permit, with a "Nil" base visa fee. The permit is single entry, allows a stay of up to 30 days from arrival, and the underlying e-Visa is generally valid 6 months from issue. Processing is typically 1-3 working days but can extend to about 10 working days, so travellers should apply at least one to two weeks ahead. A visa-waiver agreement signed between India and PNG on 21 May 2023 covers only diplomatic and official passports and has not yet entered into force, so ordinary passport holders gain no benefit from it. Required supporting documents include a passport valid at least 6 months with two blank pages, a passport photo, confirmed return/onward itinerary, accommodation details, and evidence of sufficient funds. Because PNG advises confirming eligibility on ica.gov.pg and VOA is not open to Indians, the conservative and correct verdict is eVisa.
