India to Madagascar visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need an entry authorization (visa) for Madagascar. The recommended route is the official Madagascar eVisa (Electronic Landing Authorization) for tourist stays; a visa on arrival is also available at international airports. There is no visa-free entry for Indian citizens. Madagascar is not visa-free for Indian passport holders. Every visitor, including Indians, must hold a tourist entry authorization. The most reliable option is the official Madagascar eVisa portal (evisamada-mg.com), which issues a single-entry tourist authorization for stays up to a maximum of 60 days. A visa on arrival is also available at Madagascar's international airports (e.g. Ivato/Antananarivo) for the same fee schedule, but pre-applying online avoids airport queues and the risk of incomplete documentation. Apply between one week and six months before travel; the authorization is issued no later than 72 hours after the online registration is validated. Fees depend on the stay length selected. Since 16 February 2026 the short-stay (1-15 day) fee rose to roughly EUR 30 / USD 35. Madagascar is in the Indian Ocean off East Africa and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Carry a passport valid at least six months with blank pages, proof of onward/return travel, and accommodation details. Be conservative at the border: present a printed copy of the approved eVisa.
