India to Latvia visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Latvia for tourism. Latvia is a full Schengen member, and India is not on the EU visa-exempt list, so the visa must be obtained before travel through VFS Global on behalf of the Embassy of Latvia. Latvia is part of the Schengen Area, and Indian nationals are not visa-exempt, so a Type C short-stay Schengen visa is mandatory for a tourist visit. The Schengen visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across all 29 Schengen states. Applications are filed through the VFS Global Latvia Visa Application Centre in India for the Embassy of Latvia (New Delhi), require in-person biometrics (unless collected within the last 59 months), and a decision normally takes about 15 calendar days. The standard visa fee is EUR 90 plus a VFS service charge (about INR 2,999). Note that ETIAS, the EU's travel authorisation launching in late 2026, applies only to visa-exempt nationalities, so Indian travelers continue to use the traditional Schengen visa rather than ETIAS. Travelers should also be aware of the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) at borders. Apply at least 15 days (ideally 4-6 weeks) before departure, especially during the busy June-August season.
