India to Lithuania visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Lithuania for tourism. There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option, and ETIAS does not apply to Indian nationals because they are already subject to a visa requirement. Lithuania is a full member of the Schengen Area, and India appears on the EU's list of nationalities that require a visa for short stays (Annex I). An Indian ordinary passport holder must therefore obtain a Schengen Type C short-stay visa before departure for a tourist visit. The visa allows a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period and is valid for travel across all 29 Schengen states. Applications are lodged in India through VFS Global on behalf of the Embassy of Lithuania, with biometrics captured at the visa application centre. The government visa fee is EUR 90 for adults (EUR 45 for children aged 6-11, free under 6), plus a VFS service fee of roughly INR 1,600-2,200 per applicant. Mandatory requirements include travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage, proof of sufficient funds, confirmed accommodation and return travel, and a passport valid at least three months beyond the planned departure with two blank pages and issued within the last 10 years. Processing typically takes about 15 calendar days but can extend to 45 days in busy periods, so applying 4-6 weeks ahead (up to 6 months in advance) is advised. ETIAS, the EUR 20 travel authorization launching in late 2026, applies only to visa-exempt nationalities and explicitly does NOT replace the visa requirement for Indian passport holders.
