India to Kazakhstan visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist visits to Kazakhstan. Since 7 July 2022, India is on Kazakhstan's visa-free list: you may enter visa-free for up to 14 calendar days per visit, capped at 42 days total within any 180-day period. Just carry a passport valid 6+ months. For longer stays, apply for the Kazakhstan eVisa. Kazakhstan grants visa-free entry to ordinary Indian passport holders for tourism, business and private visits. Under Government Decree No. 464 (effective 7 July 2022), each visa-free stay may last up to 14 calendar days from the date of border crossing, and the total visa-free stay must not exceed 42 calendar days within any rolling 180-day period. Kazakhstan is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. No advance application, embassy visit or fee is required for the visa-free channel; travelers receive entry at the port of arrival on presentation of a valid passport, and ideally proof of onward/return travel and accommodation. A migration registration (notification of arrival) is required within 3 business days of arrival, but this is normally handled automatically by your hotel or host through the vmp.gov.kz / eQonaq systems. If you intend to stay longer than the visa-free allowance or visit more frequently, Kazakhstan offers an online eVisa (tourist eVisa roughly USD 60 plus service charges) processed in about 5-9 working days. Overstaying the visa-free period can trigger fines and, in serious cases, deportation with a re-entry ban of up to 5 years.
