India to Iran visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Iran. The 15-day visa-free entry was suspended on 22 November 2025. Apply for an Iran e-visa (grant notice) in advance via evisa.mfa.ir before travel. As of 22 November 2025, Iran suspended the 15-day visa-free entry it had granted Indian ordinary passport holders since early 2024. Indian tourists must now obtain a visa before travel. The standard route is the official Iran e-visa: apply online at evisa.mfa.ir (or through an Iranian travel agency / Iran-based tour operator) and receive a visa grant notice / authorization code. With this code, the actual visa is collected at an Iranian consulate in India or stamped on arrival at an Iranian airport. A grant notice is mandatory before boarding; turning up at the airport without a pre-approved authorization code will lead to denied boarding or entry. The standard tourist visa allows a 30-day stay, single entry, extendable in-country up to 90 days total. Iran requires medical insurance valid in Iran, and India's MEA has an active advisory urging caution and warning against agents promising visa-free travel or jobs in Iran.
