Do India passport holders need a visa to visit Egypt?
Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Egypt. The simplest route is the official Egypt e-Visa, applied online before travel — single-entry costs USD 25 for a 30-day stay. Indian nationals holding an ordinary passport are NOT visa-free for Egypt. The recommended and most convenient option is the Egypt e-Visa, applied for entirely online through the government portal at visa2egypt.gov.eg before departure. A single-entry e-Visa costs USD 25, permits a stay of up to 30 days, and is valid for 90 days from issue; a multiple-entry e-Visa costs USD 60 and is valid for 180 days. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. Standard online processing typically takes 5-7 working days, so apply at least a week ahead. A visa-on-arrival is NOT generally available to individual Indian travelers — it is offered only to those joining an organized tour group of at least 2 people that holds a guarantee letter from an authorized Egyptian travel agency. Embassy/VFS sticker visas are also possible but slower and more expensive. For ordinary tourist trips, the e-Visa is the standard pathway.
