India to Algeria visa requirements
Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa before traveling to Algeria for tourism. There is no general eVisa or visa-on-arrival; apply in person at the Embassy of Algeria in New Delhi. A limited visa-on-arrival ("regularization visa") exists only for travelers on approved organized tours to Algeria's southern Sahara provinces. As of 2026, India is not on Algeria's visa-exemption list, and Algeria does not offer a nationwide eVisa. Indian ordinary passport holders must obtain a tourist visa in advance from the Embassy of Algeria in New Delhi, which processes applications in person (the embassy states it has designated no agency or intermediary). A single-entry tourist visa typically allows up to 30 days of stay and is valid for use within 90 days of issue. The only on-arrival channel is a special "regularization visa" (visa on arrival) introduced to boost Saharan tourism: it is available to tourists arriving at designated southern airports (e.g., Djanet, Tamanrasset, Adrar, Illizi) on a tour organized by an Algerian-approved travel agency, priced around EUR 50 (1-7 days) to EUR 70 (up to 15 days), and up to 30 days for full tour packages. This does not cover independent travel to northern Algiers/Oran-style itineraries, so the safe and correct verdict for a general short tourist trip is visa-required. A general electronic visa was announced by Algeria's tourism ministry in late 2024 but has not been rolled out for ordinary tourists as of mid-2026. Passport must be valid at least six months with two blank pages; travel insurance, hotel bookings, return tickets, and proof of funds are required. Sources conflict slightly on standard processing (3-4 vs 5-10 working days), so allow 10-15 days before travel.
