India to Cyprus visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa before traveling to Cyprus. There is no eVisa, visa-on-arrival, or visa-free option for tourism. Apply for a Category C short-stay (Schengen-type) visa through VFS Global / the Cyprus High Commission in New Delhi before departure. Cyprus is an EU member state but, as of 1 June 2026, is NOT yet part of the Schengen Area (only Cyprus and Ireland remain outside; accession is targeted for 2026 but not finalised). Indian ordinary passport holders are not visa-exempt and must obtain a Cyprus Category C short-stay visa before travel. The visa is a sticker (paper) visa issued for tourism, business, or family/social visits and permits a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. There is no eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival channel for Indian nationals. Applications are submitted in person (biometrics required) at VFS Global centres in India, which now also offer walk-in service for Cyprus Type C visas. The standard Schengen-type visa fee of EUR 80 applies, plus VFS service charges, with processing of roughly 10-15 working days. The only no-separate-visa channel is for travellers who already hold a valid double/multiple-entry Schengen visa, a Schengen national (D) visa, or a Schengen residence permit that has already been used to enter the Schengen area first; an ordinary Indian passport with no such document requires a Cyprus visa. ETIAS does not apply to Indian nationals (it is for visa-exempt travellers only) and is not yet operational. When Cyprus eventually joins Schengen, the standard Schengen visa rules will apply, but until then a Cyprus national short-stay visa is required.

/06 — The risks

Common refusal reasons

by frequency
/01
Cyprus is not yet in the Schengen Area
As of June 2026 Cyprus remains outside Schengen (only it and Ireland are EU non-Schengen members), so its own national short-stay visa rules apply to Indian nationals.
High
/02
No eVisa or visa-on-arrival for Indians
Indian ordinary passport holders cannot obtain a Cyprus visa online or at the border; a sticker visa must be obtained in advance.
High
/03
India is not on Cyprus's visa-exempt list
Indian ordinary passport holders are not granted visa-free entry for tourism, so a Category C visa is mandatory.
High
/04
Schengen-document exemption is conditional
Only travellers already holding a used double/multiple-entry Schengen visa or Schengen residence permit can skip a Cyprus visa; a plain Indian passport does not qualify.
Medium
/05
ETIAS does not cover visa-required nationals
ETIAS is only for visa-exempt nationalities and is not yet operational, so it offers no shortcut for Indian travellers.
Low
/07 — On arrival

After you land

/01
Immigration
Keep your passport, visa or exemption proof, return ticket, and accommodation details ready for border inspection.
/02
Customs
Review the destination's customs rules before travel and declare restricted goods or large cash amounts when required.
/03
Connectivity
Check whether airport SIMs, eSIMs, or roaming are the best option for your route before arrival.
