India to Argentina visa requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders generally need a tourist visa for Argentina, applied for at an Argentine consulate. The visa is free of charge under a bilateral agreement. However, since 28 August 2025 (Resolution 353/2025), Indians holding a valid US visa (B1/B2, B2, J, B1, O, P, E or H-1B) or a US Green Card can enter visa-free for up to 90 days. Argentina is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply. An Indian ORDINARY passport holder traveling to Argentina for tourism normally requires a consular tourist visa, which must be obtained in advance from an Argentine embassy or consulate. Thanks to a bilateral arrangement, the tourist visa is issued free of charge, but the documentary requirements are substantial (bank statements, tax returns, employment proof, itinerary). India is NOT on Argentina's AVE (electronic travel authorization) eligible-nationality list, so the AVE is not an option for ordinary Indian passport holders unless they qualify under the separate US-visa exemption. Since 28 August 2025, under Resolution 353/2025, Indian nationals holding a valid and current US nonimmigrant visa (B1/B2, B2, J, B1, O, P1/P2/P3, E or H-1B) or a US permanent residence card (Green Card) may enter Argentina for tourism for up to 90 days WITHOUT a consular visa and WITHOUT an AVE, provided the US visa/Green Card has at least 90 days' validity remaining from the date of entry. This is a significant 2025 liberalization but it covers only travelers who already hold qualifying US documents. For a traveler without such a US visa, the default and conservative channel is the free consular tourist visa. Argentina is in South America and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to entry into Argentina. Maximum tourist stay is 90 days, extendable once for a further 90 days through the National Immigration Office (Migraciones).
