Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit Taiwan?
Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa or travel authorization for Taiwan — there is no plain visa-free entry. The easiest route for most is the free online R.O.C. (Taiwan) Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC), available if you hold a valid (or expired within 10 years) visa/residence from the US, Canada, UK, EU/Schengen, Japan, Korea, Australia or New Zealand, or a Japan Visa Waiver Registration. If you do not qualify, apply for a visitor visa at TETO Jakarta. As of 2026-05-30, Indonesia is NOT on Taiwan's visa-exempt list, so an Indonesian ordinary passport holder cannot simply fly in for tourism. Taiwan offers a conditional online pathway: the R.O.C. (Taiwan) Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC), issued for free by the National Immigration Agency. You qualify for the TAC if you hold (a) a valid Taiwan visa/resident certificate issued within the past 10 years, or (b) a valid or expired-within-10-years entry visa or resident certificate from the US, Canada, UK, an EU/Schengen country, Japan, Korea, Australia or New Zealand, or (c) a valid Japan Visa Waiver Registration. The TAC permits a 14-day stay (from the day after arrival), is valid 90 days, and allows up to six entries within one year. Travelers who do not meet any of these conditions must apply for a Visitor (tourist) visa at the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Jakarta: roughly USD 50 single-entry / USD 100 multiple-entry, processed in about 5 working days, normally granting a 60-day stay. Passport must be valid 6 months, with onward/return ticket and proof of accommodation/funds. Group tourists traveling with Tourism-Administration-designated agencies may also use an eVisa channel.
