🇮🇩Indonesia🏳New CaledoniaID-NC Indonesia to New Caledonia visa requirements
Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa before traveling to New Caledonia. New Caledonia is a French overseas territory (NOT part of the Schengen Area), so a Schengen visa does not work here. You must apply for a French short-stay visa valid for the overseas territories at the French consulate / VFS Global in Indonesia before departure. New Caledonia is a special collectivity of France in the South Pacific. Although France is in the Schengen Area, New Caledonia and the other French overseas territories are explicitly OUTSIDE Schengen and have their own visa regime. A Schengen visa is not valid for entry to New Caledonia, and conversely an overseas-territory visa is not valid for Schengen. Indonesia is not on the visa-waiver list for French overseas territories, so Indonesian ordinary passport holders must obtain a short-stay visa (visa de court sejour) endorsed for the overseas territories before they travel. The application is handled through the French diplomatic mission in Indonesia, with biometrics and document submission typically processed via VFS Global in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali or Medan. The short stay permits up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism. The standard short-stay visa fee is EUR 90 (paid in Indonesian rupiah), plus a VFS service fee. Travelers should apply 4-8 weeks before departure. Note: a narrow exemption exists only for transit stops of under 24 consecutive hours, and a separate waiver may apply if you already hold a multiple-entry French consular visa valid 6 months to 5 years - but for a normal tourist visit, default to applying for the visa.
