Hong Kong (SAR China) to Finland visa requirements

Ordinary HKSAR passport holders can visit Finland visa-free for tourism or other short Schengen stays for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. ETIAS is not required as of 2026-06-21; EES border registration is already in operation at external Schengen borders. Finland is a Schengen Area member state. The HKSAR Immigration Department lists Finland/Schengen as visa-free for HKSAR passport holders for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, and EU visa rules list the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport among visa-exempt travel documents for short Schengen stays. The Finnish Border Guard also confirms that Finland is in the Schengen Area and that third-country nationals are entitled to spend up to 90 days in the Schengen Area during any given 180-day period. This guidance applies to an ordinary HKSAR passport; holders of a Hong Kong Document of Identity or other travel document should check separately. The 90-day limit is shared across all Schengen countries, not reset per country. Your passport or accepted travel document should be valid for at least 3 months after your intended departure from the Schengen Area and should not be older than 10 years; at the Finnish border you may also be asked for supporting documents, travel insurance and proof of sufficient funds. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) became fully operational on 10 April 2026 and now registers non-EU short-stay travellers at external Schengen borders, including visa-free travellers, by recording travel-document data, entry/exit details and biometrics where required. No visa or pre-travel authorisation is required today. ETIAS is separate from EES: the official EU ETIAS site says ETIAS is currently not in operation and will start in the last quarter of 2026; once live and applicable, HKSAR passport holders should expect to apply online before travel and pay EUR 20 unless fee-exempt.
