Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit OM?
British (GB) ordinary passport holders can visit Oman visa-free for up to 14 days for tourism. No visa or eVisa is required for this short stay, provided you have a passport valid for at least 6 months, a confirmed hotel booking, travel health insurance, a return/onward ticket, and proof of sufficient funds. For stays longer than 14 days, you must obtain an eVisa (Tourist Visit Visa, Unsponsored) before travel. As of 30 May 2026, the United Kingdom is on Oman's visa-exemption list (Group 1), allowing British citizens with an ordinary passport to enter visa-free for tourism for a maximum of 14 days. This is confirmed by both the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (GOV.UK) and the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 14-day exemption is granted at the border on presentation of supporting documents: a passport valid for at least 6 months, a confirmed hotel reservation, travel health insurance, a return or onward ticket, and evidence of sufficient funds. This visa-free entry cannot be extended or converted to a residence visa. Travelers needing to stay longer than 14 days should apply online before departure for a Tourist Visit Visa (Unsponsored) through the official Royal Oman Police eVisa portal (evisa.rop.gov.om): a single-entry 10-day eVisa costs about 5 OMR and a single-entry 30-day eVisa about 20 OMR, with processing typically 24-72 hours. Oman is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Overstaying the permitted period incurs fines of up to 10 OMR per day (maximum 500 OMR) and possible detention. Oman does not recognise dual nationality, so dual British-Omani citizens should enter on one passport consistently.
