United Kingdom to Norway visa requirements

British Citizen passport holders do not need a visa for short tourist visits to Norway. Norway is in the Schengen Area, so the stay limit is up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across Schengen. EES biometric border checks are fully operational; ETIAS is not open yet and no ETIAS action is required as of 21 June 2026. Norway is a Schengen country. British Citizen passport holders travelling from the UK can visit Norway visa-free for tourism, family or friend visits, business meetings, cultural or sports events, and short-term study or training, provided the total stay across Norway and all other Schengen countries is no more than 90 days in any rolling 180-day period. The passport must have been issued less than 10 years before arrival and be valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure from the Schengen Area. Border officers may ask for proof of accommodation, travel insurance, return or onward travel, and sufficient funds. The Entry/Exit System (EES) is fully operational across Schengen external borders since 10 April 2026; short-stay non-EU travellers, including UK travellers unless exempt, may have passport details, fingerprints, a facial image, and entry/exit dates recorded, replacing routine passport stamping. ETIAS is scheduled to start operations in the last quarter of 2026, with the exact start date still to be officially communicated. Until ETIAS opens, no action is required. Once ETIAS is operational and required, visa-exempt UK travellers will need to apply online before travel, pay EUR 20 unless exempt, and use the passport linked to the authorisation, which is valid for up to 3 years or until that passport expires.
