France to Vietnam visa requirements

French ordinary passport holders can visit Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days. For longer stays, use Vietnam's e-visa, valid up to 90 days. French ordinary passport holders are visa-exempt for Vietnam for stays not exceeding 45 days, counting both the entry and exit days, provided they meet Vietnam's entry conditions. France Diplomatie says the passport must be valid for at least six months on entry and that any stay longer than 45 days requires a visa. Vietnam's Resolution 44/NQ-CP keeps the 45-day unilateral visa exemption for France and 11 other countries in force from 15 March 2025 through 14 March 2028, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry. Vietnam also issues e-visas to citizens of all countries and territories, valid up to 90 days for single or multiple entry; the Immigration Department instruction page lists USD 25 for a single-entry e-visa and USD 50 for a multiple-entry e-visa, with processing in 3 working days. France Diplomatie also notes a current online pre-arrival registration for foreign arrivals at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat airport from abroad, active since 15 April 2026 and completed during the 72 hours before arrival. Visa-free stays and e-visas are not extendable or renewable in Vietnam, so travellers should leave before the permitted stay expires or arrange the correct visa before travel.
