France to Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) visa requirements

French ordinary passport holders may enter Taiwan visa-free for up to 90 days, with a passport valid at least six months from entry and proof of onward or return travel. French ordinary passport holders can enter Taiwan visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days. Taiwan BOCA lists France among the nationalities eligible for 90-day visa-exempt entry and requires a formal passport with at least six months of remaining validity as of the date of entry, plus onward or return travel evidence. France Diplomatie and the Taipei Representative Office in France give the same practical rule: French nationals do not need a visa for stays under 90 days, but the passport must be valid for more than six months at entry and the traveller must be able to show a return ticket or onward ticket to a third country with any required visa. The visa-exempt stay starts the day after arrival and is generally not extendable or convertible to another status; BOCA lists only narrow exceptions such as severe illness, natural disaster, other force majeure, or qualifying work-permit situations. Since 1 October 2025, the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) is fully online and free; foreign travellers should submit it on the official TWAC site within three days before arrival. Work, study, residence, journalism, and longer stays require the appropriate visa, permit, or resident process through the Taipei Representative Office in France or Taiwan authorities. Taiwan is outside the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not govern entry into Taiwan.
