🇵🇹PORTUGAL (SCHENGEN)FR-PT

Do France passport holders need a visa to visit Portugal (Schengen)?

No visa. France and Portugal are both EU and Schengen members, so French citizens travel visa-free under EU freedom of movement. A French ordinary passport holder needs no visa to visit Portugal. Both France and Portugal are members of the European Union and the Schengen Area, so French nationals enjoy the EU right to free movement: they may enter, stay, work and study in Portugal indefinitely using just a valid French passport or national ID card. There is no entry fee, no visa application, and no ETIAS requirement (ETIAS applies only to visa-exempt non-EU nationals). Because France is inside Schengen, the 90/180-day short-stay rule that applies to non-EU visitors does NOT limit French citizens. For stays beyond 3 months, France citizens should register their residence with the local Portuguese authorities (obtain a CRUE / EU citizen registration certificate), but this is a residence formality, not a visa. Internal Schengen borders are normally open, though carrying a valid ID document is always required and may be checked.
