Do France passport holders need a visa to visit PL?
French citizens do not need a visa for Poland. Both countries are EU and Schengen members, so French nationals enjoy full freedom of movement and can enter, stay, work, and live in Poland indefinitely with just a valid French passport or national ID card. ETIAS does not apply to EU citizens. A French ordinary passport holder needs no visa, no ETIAS, and faces no 90/180-day limit when traveling to Poland. France and Poland are both members of the European Union and the Schengen Area, so French nationals exercise the EU right of free movement. They may travel with either a valid French passport or a valid French national identity card, and there are normally no border controls between the two countries. The Schengen 90/180 short-stay rule and the upcoming ETIAS travel authorisation apply only to visa-exempt non-EU nationals, not to EU citizens such as the French. For stays beyond three months for work, study, or residence, French citizens only need to register their residence with the local Polish authorities (urzad wojewodzki) under EU free-movement rules, but no visa is ever required. The new EU Entry/Exit System (EES, live since April 2026) and ETIAS (launching Q4 2026) both exempt EU citizens. In short, this is a pure free-movement route with no entry formalities beyond carrying a valid travel document.
