Do France passport holders need a visa to visit GH?
French passport holders need a visa for Ghana and, since 25 May 2026, must obtain it online through Ghana's new national e-Visa portal before travel. Visa-on-arrival has been discontinued. A France ordinary passport holder is NOT eligible to enter Ghana visa-free and cannot get a visa on arrival. Ghana inaugurated a new national e-Visa platform (evisa.immigration.gov.gh) on 25 May 2026, replacing both the old paper/embassy process for most tourists and the previous visa-on-arrival scheme, which has been discontinued. French nationals apply online, upload a passport scan and photo, pay by card, and receive an electronic authorization (typically within 96 hours; an express option is available). The standard single-entry tourist e-Visa allows a 30-day stay and is generally valid for 3 months from issue. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry. Note: a 25 May 2026 policy waives visa fees for African passport holders, but this does NOT apply to France; French applicants pay the standard non-African fee. Ghana is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules are irrelevant here.
