Do France passport holders need a visa to visit Egypt?
French passport holders need a visa for Egypt. The easiest route is the official online e-Visa (USD 25, single entry, 30-day stay). A visa on arrival at major airports and a Sinai-only visa-free entry stamp are also available. France is an ordinary-passport country that requires a visa to enter Egypt, but the process is simple. The recommended option is the official Egypt e-Visa, applied for online before travel at visa2egypt.gov.eg. A single-entry tourist e-Visa costs USD 25, lets you stay up to 30 days, and must be used within 90 days of issuance. French travelers can alternatively buy a visa on arrival (USD 25 cash) at major airports such as Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh and Luxor. A special exemption applies if you only visit the Red Sea Sinai resorts (Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, Taba): you receive a free entry stamp for up to about 15 days without a full visa, provided you do not leave that area. Holders of a valid Schengen visa may also obtain a free 15-day tourist visa. Egypt is NOT in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to entering Egypt. Passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond arrival with a blank page.
