Do France passport holders need a visa to visit BD?
French ordinary passport holders can obtain a Bangladesh Visa on Arrival (VoA) for tourism: 30 days, single entry, USD 51 / EUR 51 cash, payable at major airports including Dhaka (HSIA). No advance visa is required, though VoA is granted at the discretion of the immigration officer. As of 2026-05-31, France is not a visa-free country for Bangladesh, but French citizens holding an ordinary passport are eligible for a Visa on Arrival (VoA) when arriving for tourism, business, or official purposes. The VoA is a single-entry permit valid for a stay of up to 30 days (extendable once for a further 30 days inside Bangladesh) and costs USD 51 or EUR 51, payable in cash only at the port of entry. Eligible entry points are the international airports (notably Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka), plus designated sea and land ports. Travelers must carry a passport valid for at least six months with two blank pages, a confirmed onward/return ticket within 30 days, proof of accommodation or an invitation letter, and proof of sufficient funds (commonly around USD 500). Bangladesh does not operate a general tourist eVisa, so the VoA (or a sticker visa obtained in advance at the Bangladesh Embassy in Paris) is the standard route. Important: VoA is granted at the sole discretion of the immigration officer, and the facility can be temporarily suspended during sensitive periods (for example, a suspension applied around the January-February 2026 parliamentary elections). Travelers who want certainty, or who are arriving during a suspension window, should obtain a sticker visa from the Bangladesh Mission in France before departure. Bangladesh is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
