Finland to Greenland visa requirements

Finnish ordinary passport holders need no visa for Greenland. As a Nordic citizen, you are free to enter, reside and work in Greenland, and may travel with either a passport or a national ID card. Greenland is a self-governing territory of the Kingdom of Denmark but is NOT part of the European Union and NOT part of the Schengen Area, so it runs its own entry rules. Finland is one of the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden) whose citizens are explicitly free to enter, reside and work in Greenland without any visa or permit. Finnish nationals may travel on a valid passport or a national identity card. No application, fee, ETIAS authorisation or pre-registration is required for a tourist visit. Two important cautions: (1) A Danish or other Schengen visa does NOT grant entry to Greenland, because Greenland sits outside Schengen with its own immigration regime; this does not affect Finns, who are exempt anyway. (2) Most travellers reach Greenland by transiting Copenhagen (Denmark) or Reykjavik/Keflavik (Iceland); as an EU/Nordic citizen you pass through these Schengen points freely, but you should carry a passport for the air journey and onward identification. ETIAS is a system for visa-exempt non-EU nationals entering the Schengen Area and does not apply to Finnish citizens or to Greenland. Practically, simply carry a valid travel document, proof of onward/return travel, and accommodation details. There is no 90/180 Schengen short-stay limit imposed on a Nordic citizen in Greenland; the 90-day cap mentioned in general guidance applies to other visa-exempt nationals, not to Nordic citizens who enjoy full free-movement and residence rights.
