Spain to Suriname visa requirements
Spanish ordinary passport holders need an electronic Suriname e-Tourist Card (entry-fee voucher) obtained online before travel for tourism. Spain is NOT visa-free and there is no visa-on-arrival channel, but it is also not on the full e-Visa list, so the simple online Tourist Card applies. For a short tourist visit, a Spain (ES) ordinary passport holder must obtain Suriname's e-Tourist Card before departure. Suriname overhauled its entry policy from 1 May 2023: most Western nationals, including all EU/Schengen passport holders such as Spain, can no longer enter purely visa-free and must instead pay for and register an online entry authorization (marketed as the e-Tourist Card or "entry-fee voucher") via the government's authorised partner VFS Global. The card is exclusively for tourism and family visits; business, work, study or volunteering require a separate visa. Suriname is in South America and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply here. The standard product is single entry, permits a stay of up to 90 days, and is typically processed within about 72 hours, so applying at least a week ahead is prudent. Authoritative sources (the VFS Global official government portal, the EU EEAS guidance, Wikipedia's visa-policy summary and the US State Department) agree Spain needs a pre-arranged online entry document rather than free walk-in entry. Because the channel is electronic and pre-travel, the best single verdict is "evisa". Conservative practice: carry the printed e-Tourist Card, a return/onward ticket and proof of accommodation, as airlines and immigration check these on arrival.
