Spain to Algeria visa requirements

Spanish ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Algeria for tourism. There is no visa-free entry, no general eVisa, and no visa-on-arrival for independent travelers. You must apply in advance at the Algerian Embassy in Madrid or a Consulate General (Alicante, Barcelona) before you travel. Algeria requires Spanish citizens to obtain a short-stay tourist visa before arrival. Spain is not on Algeria's small visa-exemption list (which covers a handful of countries such as Tunisia, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania and Seychelles). Algeria has not rolled out a general electronic visa; the only "e-visa / visa on arrival" channel is a limited facility for organized tour groups visiting specific southern desert provinces through accredited local agencies, which does not apply to ordinary independent tourists arriving at Algiers or other main entry points. Applicants must lodge a paper visa application through the Algerian diplomatic mission serving their place of residence, supported by a passport valid at least six months beyond entry, an invitation or confirmed hotel reservation, round-trip flight tickets, travel/repatriation insurance and proof of funds. Processing typically takes about two to three weeks and travelers should apply well ahead of departure. Algeria is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
