Spain to Bosnia and Herzegovina visa requirements

No visa needed. Spanish (EU) ordinary passport holders can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism. A national ID card is also accepted as a travel document. Bosnia and Herzegovina grants visa-free entry to all EU/EEA citizens, including Spain, for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, business, transit or visiting family. Bosnia and Herzegovina is NOT part of the EU or the Schengen Area (it is an EU candidate country), so time spent there does not count against the Schengen 90/180 allowance, and ETIAS does not apply to entering Bosnia. Spaniards may travel on either a valid ordinary passport or a national identity card (DNI), since EU ID cards are accepted at the border. If using a passport it should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure. No visa, eVisa, ETA or fee is required. Foreigners are required to register their stay with the local police, but in practice hotels and licensed accommodation providers complete this registration automatically on check-in; travelers staying in private accommodation must register themselves within 72 hours of arrival. There were no negative changes to this regime in 2024-2026; the EU visa-waiver for Bosnia remains in force.
