Germany to Nigeria visa requirements

German ordinary passport holders need a visa for Nigeria. As of 2026, this is obtained online as an e-Visa (Tourism Visa F5A) through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before travel. Visa-on-arrival was phased out on 1 May 2025. You must also complete the digital Nigeria Landing Card at least 72 hours before boarding. There is no visa-free or visa-waiver arrangement between Germany and Nigeria for tourism. Nigeria is not part of any visa-free scheme for German citizens, and as a non-ECOWAS national a German traveler must hold a visa to enter. Since the New Visa Policy (NVP 2025) took effect on 1 May 2025 and was implemented from 8 May 2025, Nigeria operates a fully online e-Visa system that replaced the former Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) channel. German tourists apply for the single-entry Tourism Visa (class F5A) on the Nigeria Immigration Service e-Visa portal (evisa.immigration.gov.ng), upload supporting documents, pay the fee, and normally receive an emailed decision within 24-48 hours (up to about 5 business days in peak periods). The e-Visa is valid for 90 days from issuance and permits a single stay of up to 30 days; it is not extendable as a tourist visa. Separately, every inbound foreign traveler must complete the digital Landing Card (formerly the paper disembarkation card) online, at least 72 hours before boarding, and an Exit Card before departure. A passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of arrival, proof of onward/return travel, accommodation/host details, and evidence of sufficient funds are required. Yellow fever vaccination (with International Certificate) is required for entry to Nigeria. Nigeria is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
