Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit Thailand?
No visa needed. Canadian ordinary passport holders enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days for tourism, but must complete the free online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arrival. Canadian ordinary passport holders are among the 90+ nationalities granted Thailand's visa exemption for tourism. Since the policy was raised to 60 days in 2024, Canadians can enter visa-free and stay up to 60 days, extendable once by 30 days at a local immigration office. No visa or ETA is required: Thailand's planned Electronic Travel Authorization was shelved in favour of the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), a free online form that ALL arriving foreign nationals must submit within 72 hours before arrival (effective 1 May 2025). At the border, officers may ask for proof of onward travel and funds (about 20,000 THB / 40,000 THB per family). The passport must be valid at least 6 months. Visa exemption is for genuine tourism only; immigration may scrutinise frequent back-to-back visa-exempt entries.
