Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit SR?
Canadian ordinary passport holders do not need a traditional consular visa for short tourism in Suriname, but they MUST obtain a Suriname e-Tourist Card (Entry Fee) online before departure. It is single-entry, valid for a stay of up to 90 days, and must be presented (as proof of payment) at airline check-in. As of 2026, Canada is not on Suriname's fully visa-exempt list. Instead, Canadian tourists travel under Suriname's online "Entry Fee" / e-Tourist Card scheme administered by VFS Global on behalf of the Government of Suriname. The traveller applies and pays online before the trip, receives an entry-fee voucher / e-Tourist Card, and presents it during check-in (if flying) and on arrival. The card is single-entry and authorizes a tourist stay of up to 90 days. The base Entry Fee is USD 50 (or EUR 50) plus a VFS Global service fee of about USD 8 (EUR 8), for a typical total of roughly USD 58. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the arrival date. For stays longer than three months, a separate Authorization for Temporary Stay (MKV) must be obtained from a Surinamese mission before travelling. Because this is an online pre-arrival authorization rather than a free visa-waiver or a visa-on-arrival counter process, the best-fit verdict is e-visa.
