Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit IE?
No. Canadian passport holders are visa-free for Ireland and can visit for tourism for up to 90 days with just a valid passport. Canadian ordinary passport holders are a non-visa-required nationality for Ireland and need no visa or pre-travel authorisation for a short tourist stay of up to 90 days. Ireland is in the EU but NOT in the Schengen area, so the new EU ETIAS scheme does not apply to Ireland — Canadians simply arrive with a valid passport and satisfy the immigration officer at the port of entry. Carry proof of onward travel, accommodation and sufficient funds. Note: if your trip also includes Northern Ireland (part of the UK), Canadians have needed a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) since 8 January 2025 — that is a separate UK requirement, not an Irish one.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
