Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit GA?
Canadian passport holders need a visa to visit Gabon. The standard route is the official Gabon e-Visa: you apply online before departure via evisa.dgdi.ga, receive an electronic entry authorization, then collect the visa sticker and pay the fee on arrival at Léon Mba International Airport in Libreville. As of 2026, Canada is not on Gabon's visa-exemption list, and the Government of Canada explicitly states that a tourist visa is required. Gabon's standard solution for air travelers is its official e-Visa, operated by the Direction Générale de la Documentation et de l'Immigration (DGDI) at evisa.dgdi.ga. Applicants submit their passport bio-data page and a recent photo online and receive an electronic entry authorization, which is then converted into a physical visa sticker on arrival at Léon Mba International Airport (Libreville). Historically the fee has been collected in cash at the airport when the sticker is issued, though Gabon has been rolling out online pre-payment via mobile-money operators. Standard fees are EUR 70 for a 1-3 month visa and EUR 185 for a 6-month multiple-entry visa. A temporary free tourist e-Visa promotion ran only from 1 July to 30 September 2025 and has expired, so standard fees now apply. The e-Visa channel covers arrivals through Libreville airport; travelers arriving by other means or who cannot use the portal should obtain a visa in advance from a Gabonese diplomatic mission. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date. Gabon is in Central Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
