Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit EE?
Canadian ordinary passport holders can travel to Estonia visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days in any 180-day period within the Schengen area. As of 31 May 2026, no ETIAS or visa is required; ETIAS is planned for late 2026. Estonia is a member of the Schengen area, and Canada is on the EU's visa-exempt list for short stays. A Canadian holding an ordinary passport may enter Estonia (and the wider Schengen zone) for tourism, business, or family visits without a visa for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen area and generally issued within the previous 10 years. As of 31 May 2026 no prior travel authorization is required: the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is not yet live, with launch expected in the last quarter of 2026 (and a subsequent transitional grace period before it becomes mandatory). Once ETIAS is operational, Canadians will need to obtain a EUR 20 authorization online before travel. Separately, the Entry/Exit System (EES), which records biometric data (fingerprints and facial image) for non-EU travelers at the border, became operational in phases from October 2025 toward full rollout in 2026; travelers should expect biometric registration on first entry. Stays longer than 90 days, or travel for work or study, require an Estonian (Schengen national) visa or residence permit rather than the visa-free channel or ETIAS.
