Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit CH?

No visa needed. Canadian ordinary passport holders can visit Switzerland visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period as a tourist. Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, and Canadian citizens holding an ordinary passport are visa-exempt for short stays. You may enter Switzerland (and travel throughout the Schengen zone) for tourism, family visits or business for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period without a visa. Your Canadian passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure from the Schengen Area and have been issued within the previous 10 years. Since October 2025 the EU/Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES) records biometrics (fingerprints and facial image) at the border; passport stamping is being phased out. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) — a EUR 20 online pre-travel authorisation valid 3 years — is expected to apply to Canadians once it goes live (anticipated late 2026), but as of 30 May 2026 it is NOT yet operational and is not required to enter. Beware of unofficial sites selling ETIAS while it is not live.
