Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit Mexico?
Brazilian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Mexico. Since 5 February 2026, those flying in for tourism can apply online for an electronic visitor visa (e-visa); travelers by land or sea still need a consular visa. Brazil is NOT visa-free for Mexico. Mexico suspended the visa exemption in December 2021 and imposed a full visa requirement in August 2022. As of 5 February 2026, Mexico reinstated an electronic visitor visa (e-visa) for Brazilian nationals who enter EXCLUSIVELY BY AIR as visitors without permission for paid activities. The e-visa is applied for online at the SRE portal (visaelectronica.sre.gob.mx), is single-entry, valid for 180 days from issuance, and permits a stay of up to 180 days; a new e-visa is required for each entry. Brazilians traveling by land or sea, or whose e-visa is refused, must obtain a traditional consular visitor visa by appointment. Brazilians who already hold valid permanent residence or a valid visa for the US, Canada, Japan, the UK or a Schengen country may enter Mexico visa-free under that exemption.
