Brazil to Japan visa requirements

Brazilian ordinary ePassport holders can visit Japan visa-free for up to 90 days. Visit Japan Web is optional but recommended for arrival procedures. Brazilian ordinary passport holders enter Japan visa-free for up to 90 days per entry if they hold an ICAO-compliant biometric ePassport. The short-stay exemption took effect on 30 September 2023 and covers Temporary Visitor activities such as tourism, family visits, transit, lectures, meetings, and similar unpaid short-term activities. Work, remunerated activity, study, journalism, long stays, and stays beyond the granted period require the appropriate visa or status. Brazilians without an eligible ePassport must obtain a visa before travel or risk refusal at the port of entry. Visit Japan Web is a free, optional Digital Agency service for online immigration and customs preparation; Japan Customs recommends electronic customs declaration through Visit Japan Web, while paper customs forms remain available. Japan's planned JESTA electronic travel authorization is targeted for fiscal year 2028 and is not required in 2026.
