Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit France (Schengen)?

No visa needed. Brazilian ordinary passport holders can enter France (Schengen) visa-free for tourism up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Brazil is on the EU's visa-exempt list, so holders of an ordinary Brazilian passport do not need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit France for tourism. You may stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen area. Entry is granted on arrival with a valid passport, provided you meet standard conditions (return ticket, proof of funds, accommodation, travel insurance). Two important system changes are now in effect or imminent: the Entry/Exit System (EES) — biometric registration (fingerprints and facial image) of non-EU travelers at the border — launched progressively on 12 October 2025 and became fully operational on 10 April 2026, replacing passport stamps. Separately, ETIAS, a mandatory online travel authorization (EUR 7, valid 3 years), is scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2026 for visa-exempt nationals including Brazilians, with a transitional grace period afterward. As of 30 May 2026, ETIAS is NOT yet required, so a Brazilian tourist needs only a valid passport. Travelers should confirm ETIAS status before booking trips later in 2026.
