Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit CH?
No visa required. Brazilian ordinary passport holders can enter Switzerland visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, and Brazil is on the EU/Schengen visa-exempt list. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary Brazilian passport may travel to Switzerland for tourism, family visits, business meetings or transit without a visa, staying up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period (the limit is cumulative across all Schengen states, not per country). You simply present a valid passport at the border, where it is stamped on entry and exit. The EU's new Entry/Exit System (EES) began progressive rollout on 12 October 2025 and registers travellers biometrically at the border (no advance action required by you). The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) — a roughly EUR 20 online pre-travel authorisation that will apply to visa-exempt nationals including Brazilians — is scheduled to launch in the last quarter of 2026 and is NOT yet required for travel on this date. Until ETIAS goes live, no online application is needed. Work and stays beyond 90 days require a separate national permit/visa from the SEM.
