Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit AT?

No visa required. Brazilian ordinary passport holders can enter Austria (Schengen Area) visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. ETIAS is not yet in force as of 30 May 2026. Brazil holds a visa-waiver agreement with the European Union, so ordinary Brazilian passport holders travel to Austria and the wider Schengen Area without a visa for short stays. The limit is 90 days in any rolling 180-day period, counted across all Schengen countries combined, and the purpose must be tourism, business, family visit or similar non-gainful activity. The amended EU-Brazil visa waiver agreement entered into force on 1 March 2026, reconfirming this 90/180 rule. The EU's ETIAS travel authorisation, which will eventually require Brazilians to obtain an online pre-travel permit (around EUR 20, valid 3 years), is NOT yet operational: it is expected to start in the last quarter of 2026 with a transitional period, and will not become a boarding condition until at least April 2027. Therefore, as of 30 May 2026, a Brazilian tourist needs only a valid passport and supporting documents at the border, with no visa and no ETIAS.
