Australia to Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) visa requirements

Australians can visit Taiwan visa-free for up to 90 days; no ETA or visa pre-authorization is required, but TWAC must be completed online before immigration clearance. Australian passport holders can enter Taiwan visa-free for tourism, visiting, transit, and eligible short business or social activities for up to 90 days. The stay is counted from the day after arrival and is not routinely extendable for Australian passport holders, so leave within 90 days or obtain the proper ROC visa, permit, or working-holiday visa before travel if staying longer or doing work, study, religious, residence, or other regulated activities. BOCA requires a formal passport valid for at least six months on the date of entry and a confirmed return or onward air/sea ticket with a confirmed seat reservation. Taiwan does not require an ETA/eTA for Australians, but the free Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) must be submitted online before immigration clearance; the live TWAC FAQ accepts submissions within 7 days before scheduled arrival, while filing within 3 days also satisfies BOCA and DFAT wording. Australians with e-passports may optionally enroll for Taiwan e-Gate use, with online trip registration/TWAC needed before each arrival. Direct Australia-Taiwan flights are listed by China Airlines and EVA Air, but schedules should be checked with the airline.
