Australia to Tajikistan visa requirements

Australian ordinary passport holders can enter Tajikistan visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism. No visa or e-visa is required for a short visit; just register with local authorities if staying beyond a short period and obtain a separate GBAO permit if visiting the Pamir region. As of 31 May 2026, Australia is on Tajikistan's visa-free list, granting ordinary passport holders single-entry stays of up to 30 days without any visa or e-visa. This is confirmed by the Australian Government's Smartraveller advisory and Tajikistan's published visa policy. Travelers need a passport valid for at least six months with a blank page, evidence of onward travel and sufficient funds. Visitors should register with the local authorities (OVIR / Ministry of Internal Affairs) within 10 working days of arrival if their stay exceeds the short visa-free registration-exempt window; many short-stay tourists in hotels are registered automatically by the hotel. A separate GBAO permit (around USD 20) is required to visit the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (the Pamir Highway / Khorog / Murghab / Wakhan corridor); because visa-free travelers cannot add it through the online e-visa system, they must obtain it via a Tajik embassy, a tour operator, or in person in Dushanbe or Khujand. For stays longer than 30 days, multiple entries, or to combine entry with an online GBAO permit, the optional Tajikistan e-Visa (USD 30 single / USD 50 multiple entry, up to 60 days within 90) is available.
