United Arab Emirates to Malawi visa requirements

UAE ordinary passport holders need a visa for Malawi, but UAE is now listed as a Category Two country eligible for visa on arrival at designated ports from 24 February 2026. Malawi still strongly encourages applying online in advance through the official eVisa portal. The current official single-entry visa fee is USD 75 and the tourist visa is valid for 3 months. As of June 2026, United Arab Emirates ordinary passport holders are not visa-exempt for Malawi, but they are now eligible for Malawi visa on arrival. The official Malawi eVisa portal notice effective 24 February 2026 says nationals of Category Two countries may obtain a visa on arrival at designated ports, and the official Category Two PDF includes United Arab Emirates (the). The same notice says eligible travelers are strongly encouraged to apply for a visa before departure through the official eVisa portal (evisa.gov.mw) to reduce processing time at ports of entry and avoid delays. The current Department of Immigration fee page lists a single-entry visa at USD 75, a six-month multiple-entry visa at USD 150, a twelve-month multiple-entry visa at USD 250, and a transit visa at USD 50. The official types-of-visa page describes the tourist visa as valid for 3 months and single-use, while the eVisa FAQ says online applications are processed within 3 working days. Travelers should carry a passport valid for at least six months with at least one blank page, proof of onward/return travel and accommodation, and yellow fever vaccination proof if arriving from or transiting a yellow-fever risk country. Malawi is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen and ETIAS rules do not apply.
