Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit CY?
UAE ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Cyprus. You can enter visa-free for tourism and stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. As of 31 May 2026, holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport enjoy visa-free entry to the Republic of Cyprus for short stays. Emirati nationals may stay for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism or business, with no visa or pre-arrival authorisation currently required. This is confirmed by both the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Embassy in Nicosia) and the Republic of Cyprus government. Cyprus is a member of the European Union but is NOT yet part of the Schengen Area; it operates its own national entry rules, so the 90/180 day count is calculated independently from the Schengen zone. Cyprus is on track for Schengen accession (flagged by the EU Commission as a 2026-27 priority) and is preparing to connect to the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and ETIAS. ETIAS is expected to become operational in late 2026; once live, visa-exempt nationals including Emiratis will need to obtain an ETIAS travel authorisation online before travelling to Cyprus. Until ETIAS launches, no electronic authorisation is needed. Passports must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date. Travellers should carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds, as these may be checked at the border.
