🇿🇦南非(South Africa)🇸🇻萨尔瓦多(El Salvador)ZA-SV 南非(South Africa) 前往 萨尔瓦多(El Salvador) 签证要求
South African ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in El Salvador. You enter visa-free for up to 90 days by buying a USD 12 tourist card on arrival. However, since late 2023 El Salvador charges South African (and most African + Indian) nationals a USD 1,130 "Airport Improvement Fee" to set foot in San Salvador airport, whether arriving or merely transiting. Budget for this separately. El Salvador places South Africa in its visa-exempt group, so no advance visa or eVisa is required for a short tourist stay. On arrival at Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport (SAL) you buy a tourist card for USD 12 (cash, US dollars), which grants up to 90 days and is shared across the CA-4 region (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua). Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond entry, and you should carry proof of onward travel and sufficient funds. The decisive recent change for South Africans is the "Airport Improvement Fee" (Tarifa de Mejoramiento Aeroportuario) introduced from October 2023 and enforced via airlines (notably Avianca) from 2024-2025: USD 1,000 plus 13% VAT = USD 1,130, applied to passport holders of 56 African countries (South Africa included) plus India, payable by card to the airline before boarding. It applies even to connecting/transit passengers passing through SAL. This is an airport charge, not a visa, and does not change the visa-free verdict, but it dramatically raises the real cost of the trip and travelers unable to pay by card are denied boarding. Sources consulted agree on the visa-free status and 90-day stay; figures are current as of 2026-05-30.
