Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Tunisia. There is no visa-free entry, no visa on arrival, and the proposed Tunisia e-visa system has not launched (the development tender failed in August 2025). You must apply in advance at a Tunisian embassy or consulate before travel. As of 2026, holders of an ordinary Vietnamese passport require a visa to enter Tunisia for tourism. Tunisia exempts only Vietnamese diplomatic passport holders (up to 90 days); ordinary passport holders are not on any visa-free or visa-on-arrival list. Tunisia announced an e-visa platform in September 2024, but the international tender to build it was declared unsuccessful in August 2025, so no e-visa is currently issued. Travelers must therefore use the traditional process: apply in person (or by accredited channel) at a Tunisian diplomatic mission. Because there is no Tunisian embassy in Vietnam, applications are handled by the nearest accredited mission, commonly the Embassy of Tunisia in Beijing (China) which covers the region, or Tokyo. The short-stay tourist visa is typically issued as a single- or multiple-entry visa permitting stays of up to 90 days, with processing that can take around 20 days. Tunisia is in North Africa and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Apply well ahead of departure and confirm exact fees and required documents directly with the processing mission, as fees vary by nationality and consulate.
