Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa for Burundi. The recommended route is the Burundi eVisa applied for online before travel via the official migration portal (migration.gov.bi); a visa on arrival at Bujumbura airport is also available as a backup. Vietnam is not on Burundi's visa-exemption list, so an ordinary Vietnamese passport holder must obtain a visa for a short tourist visit. Burundi operates an official online eVisa system through its General Commissioner of Migration (migration.gov.bi), which is the cleanest option for tourists: a single-entry visa valid for a 1-month stay costs USD 90, and a multiple-entry visa for the same 1-month stay also costs USD 90. Visa on arrival is additionally available at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport (Bujumbura) and at land borders for a maximum stay of 1 month, also around USD 90 paid in cash, but applying online in advance is more reliable and avoids queue/cash uncertainty. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from or transiting a yellow-fever-endemic area, and is widely requested at entry. Burundi is in East Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Travelers should carry proof of accommodation, a return/onward ticket, and a passport valid at least six months beyond entry.
